Wanted: Author Websites

Do you know of any good author websites? Either from published or pre-published authors--I am trying to analyze them and figure out what elements work the best in an author website. Feel free to plug yourself or your friends! And even if you know that I know about your site...add it here and let everyone know about it! I may do a critique of author websites over the weekend, if Time will quit being such a bully and let me do my thing.

(Excluding, please, blog-only websites--they're nice, but that's not what this is...I'm looking for examples of websites that go beyond a blog. This doesn't mean I don't want to see a website with a blog, or that I don't like blogs--just for this time, I'm looking for beyond-blog-websites.)

I have various thoughts on author websites, but one thing I am truly not very fond of are the flash sites where stuff is "hidden" and really hard to find. I've actually seen this bite one author in the butt when a panel organizer was trying to get information about the author and couldn't find it on the website (though it was there).
Author websites (especially for those of limited fame) should be informative, easy to navigate, and show the author's personality.

Then there's Laurie Halse Anderson

Mary Pearson

Simone Elkeles

Lemony Snicket

Lisa Yee

Garth Nix

And I think I'll stop there or I'll be here all day. :)

Hey ok i have a good few prepublished author sites and also a few published author sites you could use.

But http://www.xuni.com/ is a website designer aimed at designing websites for authors - she has portfolio of all her authors (inc John Connolly and Lee child) which you could look at and analyse.

Anyhoo i'm sorry if this is a bit out of the blue and 'pluggish by nature', but i've started a writer's forum http://thewriterschronicle.forumotion.net/index.htm
where aspiring authors etc. can come and chat and discuss topics and ideas and basically help each other.

I love blogging but it can be both hard to get a readership and connect with them so i thought a community forum would be a great way to network.

The forum is only starting out but i'm hoping it will grow,

I'd really appreciate it if you could take the time and have a look around.

thanks emily.

I know I'm a little late to comment but you should check out Kim Harrison's site: www.kimharrison.net

She has this 'dramabox' where she responds to the readers on a daily basis.

Anyhow, great blog you have here.
